Overview: Join us for a vibrant Festival of Lights, where we celebrate Hanukkah and Kwanzaa in the spirit of unity and faith. This community event features outdoor menorah lighting and an indoor celebration with educational and family-friendly activities.

Event Highlights:

  1. Outdoor Menorah Lighting: Experience the joy of Hanukkah with a beautiful menorah lighting ceremony. Gather with friends and family as we light the candles and share stories of the holiday’s significance.
  2. Indoor Hanukkah & Kwanzaa Celebration: Step inside to explore the rich histories and traditions of both Hanukkah and Kwanzaa. Hanukkah celebrates liberation from oppression and the importance of freedom of religion. While Kwanzaa is an African American and Pan-African holiday that celebrates history, values, family, community and culture.

Engage in activities that highlight the themes of Umoja (Unity) To strive for and maintain unity in the family, community, nation, and race, Kujichagulia (Self-Determination), Ujima (Collective Work and Responsibility), Ujamaa (Cooperative Economics), Nia (Purpose), Kuumba (Creativity), Imani (Faith).

Community Connection: This event aims to bring together diverse communities, promoting dialogue and shared experiences through food, crafts, and storytelling.

Edible Menorahs: Create your own delicious menorah using edible ingredients, making learning fun and interactive.

Kinara Candelabras: Craft kinara candelabras to celebrate Kwanzaa, exploring its cultural significance.

Storytelling Sessions: Immerse yourself in secular African storytelling traditions alongside religious Jewish holiday stories, fostering a deeper understanding of both cultures.
