Curator’s Corner: Sleuthing at the Seams: The Primus Dress

December 21 @ 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM
A 19th-century olive-green silk dress with a fitted bodice, button detailing, and a dramatic bustle, displayed on a headless mannequin against a gray background. The gown features wide, fringed sleeves and elegant draping, reflecting Victorian-era fashion.

December 21, 2024 @ 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM EST

Join Bethani Blake, Amistad Associate Curator, and Ned Lazaro, Associate Curator of Textiles & Costume, in Freedomways to discuss the greater exhibition and take a closer look at the Primus dress—a 19th century garment comprised of a bodice, overskirt and underskirt—possibly created by Hartford-native Mehitable Primus. Reservations encouraged. Meet in front of the museum shop.
