January 20, 2025 @ 12:00 PM – 5:00 PM EST
Join us on MLK Community Day in partnership with the Wadsworth Atheneum in centering social justice and equality. Looking at objects on view in Freedomways: From Jubilee to Juneteenth, we will offer artmaking in the galleries. Bethani Blake, Associate Curator for the African Diaspora, will lead teens in a gallery talk to discuss the history of the Black Panther Party for Self-Defense and other notable figures of the Civil Rights Movement. You can even leave with a DIY Panther pin! At 4pm we will head to the theater for a performance by the Salt & Pepper Gospel Singers—New Haven’s premiere integrated gospel choir.
